ROLLA, Mo. – Fresh off its first win of the 2019 season, Missouri S&T welcomes an undefeated Miles College team to Allgood-Bailey Stadium Saturday night for a 7 p.m. contest on Miner Hall of Fame Night.
The Miners broke into the win column last week with an impressive 51-17 win over Azusa Pacific as they racked up the second-highest yardage total in school history with 670 yards. Quarterback
Brennan Simms (Punta Gorda, FL/Charlotte) accounted for four of S&T's touchdowns in the win and has already had a hand in seven of the Miners' 10 offensive touchdowns this season.
Miles picked up its second win in as many games as it downed Morehouse 45-21 in its home opener last Saturday. The Golden Bears got 194 rushing yards from Wade Streeter and ran for 255 yards as a team in the victory.
ABOUT THE MINERS: Missouri S&T used one of its best offensive performances in school history to earn its first win of the season, as it recorded 296 rushing yards and 374 through the air in its win over Azusa Pacific.
Brennan Simms (Punta Gorda, FL/Charlotte) completed 17-of-30 passes for a career-high 277 yards and three touchdowns, while also running for his second score of the year along the way. Simms – one of just three quarterbacks in Miner history to have accounted for seven touchdowns in the first two games of a season – has completed 58 percent of his throws for 479 yards and five touchdowns, with wideout
Josh Brown (Gainesville, FL/North Marion HS) leading the way with nine catches for 219 yards.
Later in the contest a week ago, reserve quarterback
Staton King (Bixby, OK/Bixby) connected with
Breon Michel (Colorado Springs, CO/Vista Ridge) for a 97-yard touchdown pass that set a new school record for the longest pass play in Miner history.
For the second straight game, the Miners cleared the 200-yard mark on the ground as they racked up 296 yards with multiple players having a hand in it.
Payton McAlister (Decatur, TX/Decatur) cleared the 100-yard plateau for the second time as a Miner with 101 yards, while

Deshawn Jones (Olympia Fields, IL/Rich Central) finished with 63.
Defensively, the Miners bounced back from a tough opening night as they held the Cougars to 69 yards on the ground and also got in on the scoring when
Dontay White (Florissant, MO/Hazelwood Central) returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown. S&T forced three Azusa Pacific turnovers, which also included an interception from linebacker
Jake Larson (O'Fallon, MO/St. Dominic).
