Miners Take Down Screaming Eagles in Final Match of Season

EVANSVILLE, IND.-S&T finished their 2019 campaign on a high note, taking down the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) put the Miners on the board just five minutes into the second half.  Off a corner kick, Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) sent the ball deep into the box and found Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) who connected for her 5th goal of the season.
Thirteen minutes later, it was Foster again who gave S&T a security goal.

Courtney Pyrtle (Foristell, Mo./Timberland) found a loose ball off a throw-in and sent a cross into the box that found Foster who sent it past USI goalkeeper, Skylar Brant, to make it a 2-0 game.

Southern Indiana got one goal back three minutes after Foster's second goal when Katlyn Andres connected with Jill DiTusa to make it 2-1.

After the Screaming Eagles goal, S&T's defense was able to fend them off and keep the lead throughout the final buzzer.

Along with Foster's shots, Danielle Hopkins (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley), Kate Sikora (Highland, Ill./Highland), Jess Haller (Eureka, Mo./Eureka), Damita Mendoza (San Antonio, TX/Smithson Valley), and Madeline Goeke (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) all recorded shots today while goalkeeper, Kristin Steins (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South), recorded three shots to bring her season total to 83.

The Miners finished the season 6-8-3 and 6-7-2 in GLVC play.
