Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped their Great Lakes Valley Conference to Indianapolis 3-2 on Friday evening at the S&T Soccer Field. S&T (0-2, 0-1 GLVC) couldn't dig out of an early 2-0 deficit against the Greyhounds (2-1, 1-0 GLVC).
UIndy got on the board first scoring in the fourth minute. Amanda Meyer received a pass from outside of the penalty area and shot it in from 18 yards out for her first of the season. The 'Hounds added a second goal 11:30 later when Stephanie Burdsall received a pass from Meyer and scored on a breakaway.
The Lady Miners got a goal back in the 35
th minute.
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) took a throw in from
Chayse Richardson (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville), went to the end line and shot it in from the left side for her second goal of the season.
UIndy regained its two goal lead 9:30 into second half as Burdsall scored her second of the game off a direct free kick. Foster brought S&T back to within a goal six minutes later knocking home a loose ball following a throw-in from Richardson.
The Lady Miners had some chances late in regulation but were unable to get the equalizer.
The Greyhounds finished the contest with a 12-11 edge in shots and a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
S&T heads to Louisville, Ky., on Sunday to take on Bellarmine at 11 a.m. (CDT).
