St. Louis, Mo. – Jordan Kabetske (Republic, Mo./Republic) scored a career-high 19 points to lead three Missouri S&T players in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Lady Miners fell at Maryville 76-68 on Thursday evening in St. Louis, Mo. S&T (4-4, 0-2 GLVC) trailed by 14 points at halftime but cut the deficit to 58-57 with 7:04 left in the game after a layup by
Maddie Raley (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern).
The Saints (4-3, 1-2 GLVC) responded with a 14-4 run over the next five minutes extending its lead back to double digits. The Lady Miners got as close as six a couple of times in the final minute but Maryville was able to seal the game at the foul line.
After shooting 35 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes S&T heated up in the second half knocking down 17 of 32 attempts (53.1 percent) to finish the game shooting 44.4 percent from the field. The Lady Miners held a 34-29 advantage on the glass but was outscored 16-11 in points off turnovers.
Kabetske also recorded career-highs in field goals made with six and three-point field goals made with three. Raley scored 13 of her 16 points in the second half while
Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) added 15 points.
Kim Runge (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Maryville finished the game shooting 53 percent (29-for-55) from the floor, was 8-of-20 from beyond the arc and 10-for-14 at the foul line. Mary Barton led three Saints in double figures with 19 points. Ali Ringering added 18 while Stephanie Sherwood finished with 13.
S&T plays its final game before the Christmas break on Tuesday, Dec. 19 when it travels to Joplin, Mo., to take on Missouri Southern at 5:30 p.m.
