Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Softball squad dropped both games of its doubleheader against the Maryville Saints falling 6-2 and 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the S&T Softball Field. S&T (13-28, 3-17 GLVC) struggled to hit with runners on base leaving 12 runners on in the doubleheader.
Game 1 – Maryville 6 Lady Miners 2
The opening game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Saints (30-6, 16-4 GLVC) jumped on top with two runs. With one out Bri Livingston reached on an error and came around to score on Alex Flasch's two-run home run to left center. Maryville added another run in the fifth on a single from Nikki Taylor scoring Courtney Ferguson from second.
The Lady Miners scored both of their runs in the sixth thanks to a couple of errors. With one out,
Kyra Slemp (Roeland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) reached on an error and then
Cailey Baker (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) walked.
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) followed with a single to right scoring Slemp and an error by the right fielder allowed Baker to score and Fedorchak went to second. That would be all S&T got though as Taylor came in replacing Wendy Macias in the circle and retired the next two hitters.
The Saints busted the game open in the seventh scoring three runs on four hits and a couple of errors.
The Lady Miners were held to just the one hit by Fedorchak in the opener and left five runners on base in the contest.

Game 2- Maryville 3 Lady Miners 1
S&T struck first in the nightcap scoring a run on two hits in the opening frame. With one out, Slemp and Baker walked and then Fedorchak hit a ball back up the middle that was deflected by the pitcher into right field allowing Slemp to score from second. The Lady Miners left two runners in scoring position as back-to-back groundouts ended the threat.
Courtney Jackson (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South) held the Saints offense to just two hits in the first four innings but Maryville tied the game in the fifth on a pair of hits. With one out, Kelsey Martin stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Ferguson's single to right field. Jackson got out of the inning though getting back-to-back groundouts with the go-ahead run in scoring position.
The Saints took the lead in the top of the sixth thanks to a couple of hits and a pair of defensive miscues. Taylor reached with a single through the left side of the infield after her foul popup was dropped. Macias sacrificed her over as Baker tried to throw Taylor out at second but her throw went into centerfield. Livingston moved both runners up with a sacrifice and then Flasch delivered a two-run single up the middle to make it 3-1.
S&T had a chance to tie the game in the sixth. With two outs,
Andi Davis (Blue Springs, Mo./Archbishop O'Hara ) singled to right and
Kelly Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth, Mo./St. Elizabeth) doubled to right center but a flyout to right left the tying runs in scoring position.
The Lady Miners outhit Maryville 7-6 in the contest as both sides left seven runners on base. Davis and
