ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team faces a busy week as it tries to solidify its place among the top eight teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, as it will be in action three times in the upcoming week.

Following a Wednesday night non-conference game at Lindenwood University (7 p.m. start time), the Miners will return home for their final weekend of GLVC play with contests against Lewis on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  Both home games are slated to take place at the S&T Soccer Field.

Missouri S&T will play one more home contest following the UW-Parkside match, which will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28 against Drury.

After knocking off Truman State 2-1 Friday, the Miners dropped a tough 2-1 decision Sunday to Quincy to fall to 6-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play.  Missouri S&T finds itself in a three-way tie for fifth place in the league standings with Bellarmine and Saint Joseph's – whom the Miners will play Oct. 25 on the road – heading into play this week.

The Miners have players among the scoring leaders in the GLVC, as Eduardo Abichabki (Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil/Colegio Unigrau) is tied for second with six goals on the year with the most recent coming in Friday's win over Truman and Ryan Lawhead (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) tied for second with six assists.  Forward Felipe Andrade (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) is tied for third with 14 points on five goals and four assists, while Abichabki is tied for fifth in points with 13.

Lawhead moved into a tie for 10th place on the Miners' all-time assists list Sunday when he assisted on Will McIntyre (Queenstown, New Zealand)'s goal against the Hawks.

Goalkeeper Nick Posey (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) enters the week with a 1.28 goals against average.

Lindenwood will bring a 6-3-2 record into the match on Wednesday, as the Lions played to a scoreless tie Sunday against Fort Hays State.  The Tigers are one of six common opponents that the two teams have (S&T will play Drury later this month as well); Lindenwood has gone 2-2-2 against those six teams.

Stefan Andric leads the Lions in scoring with four goals and nine points, while Alfredo Paez and Andre Hayne have scored three times apiece.

Lewis is going through a disappointing 2015 campaign, as the Flyers enter play this week at 1-10-1 overall and 1-8-1 in the GLVC.  After playing to a tie against Indianapolis in its league opener, the Flyers dropped six straight before picking up a 1-0 win at McKendree; Southern Indiana and Bellarmine handed Lewis shutout losses over the past weekend.

The Flyers have been outscored 21-4 in their 12 games this season with four different players scoring for them.  Edgar Garcia has three points with a goal and an assist, while the Flyer goalkeeper duties have been shared primarily by Justin Salazar and Aaron Meynes; Lewis' team goals against average is 1.71 for the year.

Wisconsin-Parkside is 4-6-2 overall and in the midst of the GLVC playoff race at 4-4-2 after upending Bellarmine in overtime Friday and playing to a tie with Southern Indiana Sunday.  The Rangers have two of the top scorers in the league in Evan Garcia and Ryan Shogren with five goals apiece, while Scott Nicolai has scored four times.

Remi Bibal has a 1.18 goals against average for the Rangers.
