Box Score ROLLA, Mo. – After tying the game in the final minute of regulation time, Missouri S&T's men's soccer gave up a goal in the final ten seconds of the first overtime period Sunday evening and wound up on the short end of a tough
2-1 decision against seventh-ranked Lindenwood at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
Mitch Morris (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West), who scored the only Miner goal in their win Saturday over Southwest Baptist, headed in
Ryan Lawhead (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township)'s free kick out of the corner with 54 seconds to play in the second half to tie the contest. However, in the final moments before the first extra period was to end, Andre Hayne sent a pass to Alfredo Paez on the right wing and he sent a shot past S&T goalkeeper
James Holloway (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional) with nine seconds left to end the game.
The Miners and Lindenwood played on even terms for a good portion of the night, with the Lions holding a 14-11 advantage in shots through the first 90 minutes. Lindenwood had all six shots in the overtime session.
The Lions took the lead in the game in the opening half when Hayne picked off a Miner clearing attempt at the top of the box and scored.
Holloway finished with four saves in goal for S&T, who will open its Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule Friday when it faces Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis., at 1:15 p.m.
