Box Score QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy, ranked 11
th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, scored early in the contest and kept control of matters for a good portion of the night as it knocked off Missouri S&T's men's soccer team
4-0 Friday evening.
The Hawks got a goal from Jordan Roberts at the 8:20 mark of the first half to grab the lead, then got another tally before the half ended from Taylor Reis to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Roberts scored again for Quincy just 6:34 into the second half and Xhovani Dokaj posted the final Hawk goal when he scored on a rebound a little over nine minutes later.
Quincy (8-0, 5-0 GLVC) outshot the Miners 17-12 on the night and 12-6 in shots on net.
Alex Reifschneider (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) had three shots to the lead the Miners, while
Felipe Andrade (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/) and
Bryce Phillips (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS) had two apiece. All of S&T's shots on goal came in the second half.
James Holloway (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional) finished with seven saves in the contest against a Hawk squad that recorded its seventh straight shutout and has yet to allow a goal in a conference game this season.
The Miners (2-4-1, 1-3-1 GLVC) will wrap up their weekend road trip Sunday when they face Truman State in Kirksville, Mo., in a 2:30 p.m. matchup.
