(Rolla, Mo.) – After playing six of its first seven matches away from home the Missouri S&T volleyball team is prepared to open a three-match homestand beginning on Wednesday with the Tritons from Missouri-St. Louis at 7 p.m. The homestand continues on Saturday with a visit from Bellarmine University beginning at 3 p.m. The start time has been moved up two hours from its original start time. The homestand concludes on Sunday when the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana make a visit to Rolla.

The Miners (2-5) have played just once at home this season and that was a 3-2 loss to Columbia College last Thursday. S&T began Great Lakes Valley Conference play last weekend splitting a pair of games at Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis this past weekend. Katie McDonald (Orland Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) and Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) paced the Miner attack in those contests with 21 and 20 kills respectively.

S&T hit a season-high 23.5 percent in the 3-1 win at Saint Joseph's last Saturday, but struggled to get its offense going in the loss at Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. The Miners had a couple of chances to win the second set against the Greyhounds and even the match at 1-1, but were unable to close it out.

Missouri-St. Louis enters Wednesday night's contest having won four straight and five of its first six to begin the season. The Tritons opened GLVC play last weekend with sweeps of Illinois Springfield and McKendree. UMSL hit 27.2 percent for the weekend while recording 94 kills in 242 attempts.

The Tritons have an attack percentage of .231 and are averaging 13.62 kills/set. They've got five players with 35 or more kills led by Jory Siebenmorgen with 52. Lindsay Meyer is the quarterback of the offense averaging 9.33 assists per set while Emily Bragaw leds the team with 100 digs. UMSL is ranked sixth in the conference in hitting percentage and 10th in opponent hitting percentage.

Bellarmine enters play this week with a record of 3-2 and are 1-1 in the GLVC. The Knights play Cedarville in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening. Bellarmine has won three of its five matches by sweeps this season and have had only one match go past three sets. The Knights opened league play at home last weekend and were swept by Rockhurst before sweeping William Jewell on Sunday.

As a team Bellarmine is hitting 18.8 percent on the season and holding its opponents to hitting percentage of .146. The Knights are averaging 13.6 kills per set and are led by Emily McDaniel with 4.12 kills per set and Margaret Horihan with 2.31 per set. Two other players have at least 30 kills in a very balanced offensive attack. Allie Muha is averaging 11.31sets/assist while Jaclyn Ohlmann is averaging nearly six digs per set.

Southern Indiana has won five of its first seven matches to begin the 2014 season and is 1-1 in GLVC play.
