S&T, Maryville play to scoreless tie

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team had an advantage in shots in Sunday's Great Lakes Valley Conference contest against Maryville at Allgood-Bailey Stadium, but wasn't able to get any of its 13 attempts into the net and ended up playing to a 0-0 tie.

The Miners were outshot 7-6 in the opening half, but had four shots to the Saints' three over the next 45 minutes.  S&T had all three shots taken in the 20 minutes of extra time, including one on goal by Bryce Phillips (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS) with a little over two minutes remaining in the contest.

Eduardo Abichabki (Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil/Colegio Unigrau) had four shots to lead the Miners, while Phillips, Neil Wiaranowski (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) and Maxi Fuchs (Munich, Germany) had two apiece.

Meanwhile, James Holloway (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional) recorded his third shutout of the season as he turned away all five Saint shots on goal.

The Miners (3-5-2, 2-4-2 GLVC) will face McKendree Friday in a 7:30 p.m. game in Lebanon, Ill.
