EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Four members of Missouri S&T's baseball team were named Wednesday night to the Great Lakes Valley Conference's all-league team for the 2013 season, as the GLVC announced the recipients at a ceremony preceding the start of the conference tournament on Thursday.

Sophomore second baseman Michael Lockett (O'Fallon, Mo./Timberland) was named to the GLVC West Division first team at his position, while the Miners had three second-team selections in senior pitchers Nolan Korn (Cedar Hill, Mo./Northwest) and Chris Bowe (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) and redshirt freshman first baseman Lance Portwood (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Santa Fe).

Lockett has led the Miners in hitting for much of the 2013 season and brings a .321 average into the tournament.  Earlier this year, he recorded a 15-game hitting streak, one of the longest in school history, while recording 11 doubles and 27 runs batted in.  Lockett has also been one of the Miners' top defensive players, with only two errors in 189 chances at second base.

Korn, who had pitched exclusively out of the bullpen during his first three seasons with the Miners, moved into the starting rotation this year and has posted a 5-3 record with a  3.00 earned run average.  In 63 innings of work, he has allowed only 61 hits and has struck out 39 hitters.  In addition, he has a save, a shutout and four complete games during the year.

Bowe has an overall record of 4-5 with a 3.64 ERA, but has gone 4-3 with a 2.60 earned run mark in conference play.  Bowe leads the S&T pitching staff with 49 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings of work and has fanned six or more hitters in five of his 10 starts this season.  He also has three complete games and a shutout this year.

Portwood moved into a starting role at first base during the second half of the season and has hit .426 with 15 runs batted in with a .508 slugging percentage.  He has also recorded a .453 on-base percentage.

The Miners, 24-23 on the year, will open play in the GLVC Tournament as the fifth seed Thursday at 11 a.m. against Saint Joseph's College at Evansville's Bosse Field.
