10/16/2013 11:38:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. – With just five games remaining on the schedule, Missouri S&T's men's soccer team heads out on its final regular season road trip in Great Lakes Valley Conference  play this weekend with a trip to Indiana to face teams at the opposite ends of the conference standings.

The Miners, 5-5-2 overall and 4-4-2 in GLVC play, will take on Indianapolis Friday night and play their last scheduled road contest Sunday against Saint Joseph's in Rensselaer, Ind.  S&T comes into the weekend tied with Truman State for ninth place in the GLVC standings and only the top eight will qualify for the conference tournament.

Of the final five squads remaining on the Miners' slate, four are against teams that are currently among the top eight in the conference.  Only Sunday's opponent, Saint Joseph's, is not in contention for a berth in the tournament.

The Miners were unable to score in a pair of home games last week against Truman State -- a contest that ended in a scoreless tie -- and a 3-0 loss to Quincy.

Matt Jackson (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West), who has a 1.12 goals against average on the season, recorded his third shutout of the year by making six saves in the draw with Truman State, then made seven in Sunday's contest against Quincy.  Jackson has made 68 saves in the nets in 963 minutes of playing time.

Alex Reifschneider (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) continues to lead the Miners with four goals on the season and Brian Seawright (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) has three tallies on the year.

Indianapolis has the league's leading scorer in Ngwese Ebangwese, who scored four times last weekend and has nine goals and 21 points on the year heading into Friday's match.  The Greyhounds, 8-2-2 overall and fourth in the GLVC at 7-1-2, have won four consecutive games and currently own the fourth spot in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Saint Joseph's has lost seven consecutive games and is 2-10-1 on the season (1-9 in the GLVC), with nine of its losses coming by one goal.  Michael Lipton is among the league's scoring leaders with six of the Pumas' 12 goals on the season.
