9/7/2012 6:11:00 PM

Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. – A late goal by Wisconsin-Parkside's Ausin Robb sent Missouri S&T's men's soccer team to defeat in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Friday afternoon, as the Rangers  knocked off the Miners by a count of 2-1.

Robb's goal at the 82:33 mark broke a one-all tie and completed a second half comeback by UW-Parkside after S&T had taken the lead early in the second half.

After a scoreless first half, the Miners broke on top when Timmy Kenny (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) scored off an assist from Adam Stensland (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) at the 51:22 mark.  The goal was the first scored against the Rangers this season, but UW-Parkside knotted the score just over four minutes later as Jorge Ontiveros scored off an assist from Marc Glidden.

The game would remain that way until the unassisted goal by Robb with 7:27 remaining in regulation time.  The Miners had a late opportunity as the Rangers were playing a man down over the final four minutes, but was unable to get the equalizer past goalkeeper Nick Huftalin.

The Rangers outshot the Miners 14-13 in the contest, as S&T goalkeeper Matt Jackson (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) was credited with three saves.  Huftalin made six saves for the Rangers (2-0-1, 1-0 GLVC).

S&T (1-1-1, 0-1 GLVC) will conclude its early stretch on the road Sunday when it faces Lewis in a noon game in Romeoville, Ill.
