ROLLA, Mo. – The early lead in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's football race will be at stake Saturday night as Missouri S&T plays host to the University of Indianapolis in a key early-season matchup at Allgood-Bailey Stadium. Kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. on Miner Athletic Hall of Fame Night, as the new inductees to the hall will be honored as part of the halftime festivities.
Missouri S&T enters Saturday's game as the last undefeated team in the GLVC at 4-0 overall and has won its first two conference games, including a 47-23 win over Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday. S&T posted a season-best 553 yards of total offense, including 253 on the ground as
Scott Hendricks (Kechi, Kan./Maize HS) rushed for 109 yards and
Curterris Golden (Chicago, Ill./John Hope) added 92.
The Miners will come into the contest leading the conference in total offense and total defense, but will face a Greyhound team that currently ranks second in rushing and in total defense, while leading the GLVC in passing defense. UIndy features a balanced offensive attack headed by the conference's top rusher in Klay Fletcher (113.8 yards per game) and wide receiver Mar'Quone Edmonds, who along with S&T's
Smook Thomas (Quincy, Fla./East Gadsden) rank among the league leaders in receiving.
Indianapolis comes into the game at 2-2 overall, losing its first two games to nationally-ranked Ashland and to Division I (FCS) Western Illinois, but have defeated Quincy and McKendree by a combined score of 80-22 in its first two GLVC contests.
Besides the introduction of the newest inductees to the Hall of Fame, there will also be a fireworks show during the halftime break as well.
