KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Missouri S&T captured its second dual meet in as many days Saturday as it had winning performances in each of the first eight events to defeat Truman State
120-74.
The Miners got five straight winning efforts prior to the first break in the action, which came from
Matt Welsh (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:52.17,
Jacob Dole (Corbin, Ky./Country Day School) in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.84,
Aljaz Kerc (Ljubljana, Slovenia/Gimnazija Bezigrad) in the 50-freestyle in 21.40 seconds and
Ethan Goldfarb (Arlington, Texas/The Oakridge School) in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:08.64.
Following the break, the Miners got wins from
Andrew Schranck (Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) in the 100-butterflly in 51.64 seconds,
Sasha Stadnik (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West) in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.41 seconds to lead a Miner sweep of the top three spots in that event and Dole in the 100-backstroke in 54.66 to lead another sweep of that event.
S&T's 200-yard medley relay team of Schranck, Kerc,
Danylo Mykhailov (Khankiv, Ukraine/Sport Collegue N.S.) and
Matt Zieger (St. Joseph, Mo./Central) also won in 1:34.62 and the Miners had the best time in the 200-yard freestyle relay of 1:27.98.
Second place finishes were posted by Schranck in the 200-freestyle in 1:46.14, Mykhailov in the 50-free in 21.91 seconds,
Ryan Gibson (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) in the 100-butterflly in 53.09,
Keith Sponsler (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East) in the 100-freestyle in 48.82 seconds,
Luis Nesrala (Santo Domingo, D.R./Colegio Amador) in the 100-backstroke in 54.77. Goldfarb also had the second-best time in the 500-yard freestyle of 4:46.86 as did
Drew Larkins (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) in the 100-breaststroke of 1:00.37.
Stadnik finished third in the 1,000-free in 10:26.08 as did
Ryan Layne (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) in the 400-IM in 4:10.53,
Luke Norris (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) in the 100-freestyle in 49.50 and Mykhailov in the 100-back in 55.46.
The Miners' next competition will take place on Nov. 16 and 17 at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Mo.
