10/4/2012 2:31:00 PM

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will hold its only home meet of the 2012 cross country season Saturday morning, as nine schools along with the Miners and Lady Miners will take part in the Jackling Jocks Invitational at the Missouri S&T Golf Course.

The first race, the men's eight-kilometer race, will begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by the women's five-kilometer event at 10:30 a.m.  There will also be an open five-kilometer race that will begin at 11:15 a.m., or shortly following the conclusion of the women's collegiate race.

A total of nine men's teams and 10 women's teams will make up the field for Saturday's meet.  Two teams currently in the men's national rankings – No. 10 Missouri Southern and No. 24 Southwest Baptist – will compete in that race along with Pittsburg State, who is at No. 10 in this week's USTFCCCA Central region rankings.

The women's race will feature three nationally ranked teams in No. 17 Missouri Southern, No. 25 Southwest Baptist and No. 27 Pittsburg State.  All three schools represent the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association as will Lindenwood, Truman State and Lincoln University, who will only have a women's team competing Saturday.

Besides Missouri S&T, Drury – whose men's team is currently ranked 10th in the Midwest region in the USTFCCCA rankings – and William Jewell will have their teams in competition in Rolla as will NCAA Division III member Webster University.
