LAWRENCE, Kan. – Missouri S&T's women's cross country team placed third in its season opening meet Saturday at the Bob Timmons Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas, with senior Colleen Conrad (Mogadore, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's ) posting a top 10 finish to lead the Lady Miners.
Conrad completed the five-kilometer race in 20:36.9 to lead a group of four Lady Miners among the top 16 overall. Lisa Lake (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa) finished in 14th place in 21:21.8, followed by Codee Pedersen (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) in 15th in 21:26.4 and Diane Strong (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) in 16th with a time of 21:27.1.
Brenda Ellis (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East) rounded out S&T's top five with a 21st place showing in 21:50.5. Rachel Feist (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) finished in 24th place in 22:00.7 and Madalyn Elliott (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was 27th in 22:24.6 in the race of 38 runners.
Oral Roberts had four of the top six finishers in the race and took the team title over Kansas. The Lady Miners had a total of 67 points in Saturday's meet.
Missouri S&T will compete Sept. 17 in Joplin at the Missouri Southern Stampede.
