EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Colleen Conrad (Mogadore, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's ) earned her second all-conference award at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday, finishing in fifth place to help the Lady Miners to a seventh place finish in the meet held at the University of Southern Indiana.
Conrad, who had a 13
th place finish for the Lady Miners in the 2009 GLVC Championships, covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:08 to post the highest finish ever for a S&T women's competitor at the conference meet since Missouri S&T joined the GLVC in 2005.
She was followed among the Lady Miner runners by
Mindy Lake (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa), who finished 33
rd in 23:28 and
Lisa Lake (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa), who had a time of 23:34 to finish in 39
th place. The next two S&T runners were
Alyson Smith (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah), who came in 47
th place in 23:45 and
Rachel Feist (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks), who finished 62
nd in 24:14.
The two runners who followed Feist for the Lady Miners were
Codee Pedersen (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) with a time of 24:27 and
Diane Strong (Jackson, Mo./Jackson) at 24:33.
Southern Indiana captured the team championship by six points over Bellarmine and also had the individual champion in Jackie Henderson, who completed the course in a time of 21:38.
The Lady Miners will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional at Ferris State in Big Rapids, Mich., on Nov. 5.
