KENOSHA, Wis. -- A Missouri S&T men's soccer team playing with heavy hearts Friday played to a scoreless tie at Wisconsin-Parkside to keep themselves in the hunt for a first round home playoff game.

The Miners were playing only hours after learning of the automobile accident early Friday morning that claimed the life of student assistant coach Derek Medlock. They got off to a slow start on the field as the Rangers held them without a shot in the first 45 minutes of play, but only one of them was on goal and was turned away by goalkeeper Pat McNamee (Fenton, Mo./Vianney ).

Things picked up for the Miners after the intermission as they got seven shots in the half, including four on goal. However, the game remained scoreless through the second half and then through the two overtime periods.

UW-Parkside ouutshot the Miners 18-8 for the game, although the Miners had four corner kicks to UWP's three. McNamee finished with four saves to record his sixth shutout of the season and fifth in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

The tie dropped to fifth place in the GLVC standings, pending the results of the Friday night contests around the league.
