Corey Bailey (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) tapped in a pass from
Mario Calderon (Mexico City, Mexico/ITESM) with just over six minutes to play in regulation time Friday night, giving Missouri S&T a thrilling
1-0 win over Indianapolis in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer action.
The Miners and Greyhounds were locked up in a tense defensive struggle for much of the night, as only 11 shots were on goal in the contest. Indianapolis had a 9-2 advantage in overall shots in a scoreless first half, but the Miners racheted up their play in a more evenly matched second half.
S&T finally broke the tie with 6:04 to play in regulation as
Mario Calderon (Mexico City, Mexico/ITESM) got a pass through the UIndy defense to Bailey, who tapped a shot past goalkeeper Michael Crane to get the Miners on the board.
The S&T defense and goalkeeper
Pat McNamee (Fenton, Mo./Vianney ) took care of the rest, as the freshman turned away all seven shots he saw on net to record his fourth shutout of the year.
