The Lady Miners’ 1986-87 women’s basketball team reached a number of high water marks in the history of the program during this campaign. The team opened the season with a school record 10-game winning streak to earn a national ranking of No. 3 in NCAA Division II and went on to record a record of 19-8. The team had four double figure scorers that year and outscored its opponents by better than 10 points per game, the second-best scoring margin in program history. Included among the 19 wins were two over NCAA Division I opponents and the first ever over conference rival Northwest Missouri State.
