Magnus was a top defender for the women’s soccer program during the early years of the program.  A four-year member of the UMR squad – the first four teams to play for the university – she played on teams that went 19-13 during the 1983 and 1984 seasons and anchored a defense that allowed one goal per game in that stretch.  She later joined the NASA space shuttle program and was part of several missions as part of that program.
