One of the few basketball players to score 1,000 points in his Miner career, “Randy” Vessell tallied 1,063 points for UMR from 1964-68. He was a two-time most valuable player for the Miners and also served as the team captain for two seasons. The MIAA honored him with a first-team all-conference award following his junior and senior seasons.
