Missouri S&T Athletics

Weitzel was a co-captain of the 1954 Miner football team, where he played quarterback and safety.  He led the team in interceptions on the defensive side of the ball three times and recorded 12 career interceptions.  Weitzel was named honorable mention All-MIAA in 1952 and earned the MIAA’s sportsmanship award two years later.  He earned four letters in track & field and one in basketball as well as serving as president of M-Club.
