The Miners established a new school record with 25 wins in a historic campaign that saw them win the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association regular season and tournament titles and host the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, where it finished as the runner-up. The Miners also gained their highest national ranking that season of No. 8 in the final poll as part of its 25-6 season. Balance was the name of the game for this team with six players averaging between 9.6 and 13.5 points per game, including MIAA co-most valuable player Michael McClain. Jamie Brueggeman was a second-team All-MIAA selection, while four others were named honorable mention. The MIAA title was the second in school history in a year highlighted by three wins over Central Missouri, two over Washburn and a 13-point road win at Seattle Pacific. Head coach Dale Martin was named as “Coach of the Year” by both the MIAA and the NABC South Central region.
