This team was the first basketball team at the university to win a conference championship in its sport. The Miners finished the season with an overall record of 18-9 and went 10-2 in the MIAA, setting records for wins in the process. This squad also earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament at Nicholls State in Thibdoux, La., marking the Miners’ second appearance in the national tournament in as many years. Mark Franklin led a balanced scoring effort by this team with an average of 14.7 points per game.
