The Miners' 1974-75 men's basketball team was the first in program history to earn a berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament, as it was selected in a season in which it finished with a 16-9 record and 8-4 mark in the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association. After opening the season at 4-3, the Miners rank off six straight wins to move to the top end of the MIAA standings and finished with a three-game winning streak to finish in second place and earn a berth to the NCAA regional tournament at the University of North Dakota. Bob Stanley led four Miners in double figures in the scoring column with an average of 15.1 points per game and averaged a double-double for the season with 11 rebounds per game.  Four of the five regular starters on the team were named to the All-MIAA team after the season with Stanley being a first-team selection, Mark Franklin being named to the second team and Ross Klie and Ron Scroggins landing honorable mention laurels; all four averaged better than 13 points per game during the year.
