One of the greatest basketball players ever at the school, Stalling set a record for the most points by a two-year player with 992 over the courses of the 1972-73 and 1973-74 campaigns.  He was an All-MIAA selection following both of those seasons and was named as the MIAA’s most valuable player in 1974.  Stalling became the first player from the Miner program that was selected in the National Basketball Association draft when he was chosen by the Houston Rockets in 1974, following a season when he was named to the District V All-America team after averaging a school record 25.9 points per game.
