A standout for the UMR women’s basketball team, Jansen finished her playing career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,416 points and second in rebounds with 661. Jansen earned first-team All-MIAA honors and first-team Academic All-America honors following her senior year when she led the Lady Miners with an average of 17.1 points per game. She earned second-team All-MIAA honors in both the 1987-88 and 1988-89 seasons. A two-sport student-athlete who also played softball at UMR, Jansen set a school record with 562 made field goals during her career.
