The team won its final three games of the season to gain its share of the title and held six of its nine opponents to under 10 points. Only one team scored more than 20 points against MSM that season and that came in a Miner victory. The 1956 Miners, which allowed their opponents an average of only 96.1 yards per game, boasted five all-conference performers with a balanced offensive attack.
