Lorey had an outstanding career in the women's track and cross country programs, earning a berth to the 1993 NCAA Division II Championships in cross country and winning the MIAA championships in track & field in the spring of 1994 in the 10,000-meters. During her four years with the Lady Miners, Lorey established the school records in the distance events as she set the indoor record in the 5,000-meters at 17:58.72 and outdoor marks in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races. She earned her berth in the national cross country championships by finishing second at the NCAA's South Central Regional in her senior year, after taking second at the MIAA Championships earlier in the season. Lorey also had two other All-MIAA finishes in cross country during her career.
