20 Questions With A Miner: Andrew Schranck

1. What is one thing people don't know about you? 
I have 7 brothers and 1 sister, and I have a fraternal twin.

2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? 
The ability to fly.

3. What is your dream job? 
Implementing sustainable drinking water/ wastewater solutions in third world countries to work toward alleviating problems due to diarrhea and other water born illnesses.
 
4. What is one normal thing you absolutely will not eat? 
I will eat anything you put in front of me.

5. What is your current ringtone? 
Verizon Wireless Default Ringtone.

6. What is the reason you decided to come to S&T? 
It was the top ranked Division II swim program at a university with a good engineering program.

8. What is your favorite thing about Rolla? 
Slice of Pie, half price pizza Mondays, Mandarin Garden, Lucky House, and Ray Jay’s.

9. The best place to study on campus is? 
On the second floor of the library at the table next to the northeast stairwell that looks out toward the EE building. I usually study at home though.

10. What is your best non-athletic talent? 
Making gooey butter cake, especially pumpkin gooey.

11. What word or phrase do you overuse the most? 
“So…I have a question” OR “So…can I ask you a question.”

12. What is the hardest class you've taken at S&T? 
Calculus III.

13. What is your proudest sports moment? 
Being part of the third place Miner swim team at the 2009 NCAA Championships in Houston, Texas.

14. One word to describe your head coach is? 
Dedicated

15. Who is the funniest person on your team? 
Matt Welsh.

16. What internships have you done?
I have worked with a Civil Engineering/ Land Surveying company in Alton, IL called SMS Engineers, Inc. doing mostly surveying work, and I worked for the City of Maryland Heights, MO in the Public Works Department working on Transportation/Construction projects. I have also been to Bolivia twice with Engineers Without Borders.

17. What is one moment in history you would like prefer to have witnessed? 
The death of Jesus Christ.

18. Other than your own, what is your favorite S&T team to watch play? 
Well the runners don’t really play, but I like watching x country and track & field. I like watching volleyball too.

19. What is one must-have item to go on roadtrips? 
Eats

20. How do you want people at S&T to remember you? 
I want people to remember the service I have done and the contributions I have made to the University, the Athletic Department, the Swim Team, my teammates, the community, and Engineers Without Borders. I want people to remember all the progress and success that has been made for these groups in the past five years.
