ROLLA, Mo. – For the fifth time in the program's history a member of Missouri S&T's volleyball team has earned Academic All-America honors, as Miner defensive specialist
Lauren Flowers (Ballwin, Mo./Lafayette) landed a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) academic squad for the 2017 season.
Flowers was a third-team selection to the team for NCAA Division II and is the fourth selection from the S&T volleyball program to be named. She joins Jennifer Costello (2011 and 2012), Hayley Wright (2013) and Krista Haslag (2015) to the list of Miner players to be named Academic All-American. In addition, Flowers award is the 93
rd that has been won by a Missouri S&T student-athlete in the history of the Academic All-America program, the fifth-most among schools at the NCAA Division II level.
Flowers, who is majoring in biological sciences at S&T, has a 4.00 grade point average and just completed her career appearing in 50 matches averaging 1.97 digs per set and served 14 aces. This past season she recorded 120 digs in 59 sets played.
Sixteen of the 21 members of the 2017 Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball Team have a spotless 4.00 GPA, including all seven student-athletes honored as first team selections.
