ROLLA, Mo. – Ryan Lawhead (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township), who set a Missouri S&T school record during the 2015 season for assists, was named today to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America team for the second year in succession.

Lawhead, who is majoring in petroleum engineering at Missouri S&T, is a first-team selection to the squad for the second consecutive year.  This year's selection comes on the heels of a season in which he was named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference's second team after recording a record nine assists during the year.

The nine assists ranks Lawhead second in the GLVC and his 15 career assists are tied for sixth on S&T's all-time list.

Six of his nine assists during the 2015 season either tied the game or put the Miners in front.  He also played as a wing defender for a unit that allowed only 23 goals in 20 games and posted seven shutouts during the 2015 campaign.

The selection of Lawhead to the Academic All-America team marks the fifth straight year that a Miner has landed a spot on the squad, as Ryan Muich and Trent Doerner were named in 2011, Caleb Collier and Adam Stensland in 2012 and Timmy Kenny in 2013 prior to Lawhead's selection in each of the last two years.

Lawhead was also an academic all-district selection in 2013.

The honor is the 83^rd for Missouri S&T in the history of the program and ninth for the men's soccer program.  Missouri S&T has now received 59 Academic All-America awards since 2000, the fifth-most of any school at the NCAA Division II level.

Missouri S&T finished the season with a record of 10-8-2 and was fourth in the GLVC with a 9-5-1 conference mark.
